About Tarangire National Park

At 2,850 km², Tarangire is the sixth-largest park in Tanzania and the dry-season lifeline for wildlife across the Maasai Steppe. Between June and October the river becomes the only permanent water source for miles, drawing dense concentrations of elephant, zebra and wildebeest. The park is quiet compared with the Serengeti, making it a favourite for photographers and repeat visitors.
